The girls get out of school next week. I want to enjoy the summer with them, so I’ve been trying to tie up loose ends before break starts. The problem is that there are a lot of loose ends. I have no trouble keeping very busy.
Busy Life
A couple weeks ago, Mrs. 1500 and me attended the Berkshire Hathaway meeting (more on this soon). Omaha is a fantastic city and I’m always happy when I have an excuse to visit:
I like to take pictures of lightbulbs. Here are some at a burger bar in Nebraska:
Rain (And Wind)
It’s been a stormy spring here in Colorado.
One storm took the roof off of the girls’ playhouse and blew it into my face. While some of the nails permanently scarred my skin, they missed my eye. I’m OK with scars. I’m not OK with compromised vision, so it’s all good:
School Days
Our girls’ school has an activity called 100 Mile Club. Every morning before school, the girls run around a track. This year, they each ran about 130 miles.
I chaperoned a field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. One of the great things about a FIREy life is that you can attend all of your children’s events.
Randomness
I recently decided to make a Lori Wall Bed to save space in our guest room. The bed isn’t completed yet, but the parts are ready for paint:
This past weekend, the local FI meetup group had a little party:
And there were cool light bulbs at the meetup space:
And then I spotted more cool bulbs around town:
I’m taking most of this week off from writing to get caught up on life (and light bulb pics). See you soon.

Enjoy the week off Mr. 1500! I hope you heal-up OK from that playhouse incident. That’s no laughing matter. It could have been far worse!
Glad your OK. 🙂

“nice war wound. ”
I know, right? I’m currently fabricating an elaborate story as to why my face just got a downgrade (who thought it go any lower???). It will probably involve an altercation with a 20′ long rattlesnake and 400 pound mountain lion.
A week off sounds fantastic. Hope you enjoy it. Also, I hope that the scars heal up nicely. Very lucky that your eye wasn’t completely compromised, but that’s still a crappy accident.

I know, right? I’m so thankful!
I don’t recall approving the week off………Enjoy!

I’m glad you share my love of lightbulb pics. They’re such a turn on! …get it, turn on? …crickets
*sad trombone*
Thanks for the Lori Wall Bed tip, never heard of that before! So practical yet simple, my kinda DIY style. Hope you’ll share an update how it all turned out. Enjoy summer!
Yeah, I love the Lori Bed idea! It’s much cheaper than a traditional murphy bed and not difficult to build. I’ll be publishing a full report in June.
Very nice pictures!
I’m looking forward to hear more about your Lori Wall bed project!
Enjoy your time off 🙂

I’ll have a full post on the Lori Bed in June. So far, so good!
You’d better make sure your tetnus shot is up to date. Don’t ignore this. It can be serious.
Looking forward to reading more about the Murphy bed. I’d like something like that too.
It seems hard to push into the wall without springs and stuff.
I’m going to cut way back in the summer too. My son will be out of school and we’ll travel quite a bit this summer. Still about 4 weeks of school left for us.
Yep, shots are up to date. With all of the stupid things that I do, I would have been dead many years ago without that shot!
The Lori Bed will be a little more difficult to stand up, but I think it will be manageable. I actually prefer it. All of those springs and related hardware add complexity and cost.
Yowzer, sorry about the head wound! Listen to Rx40 and make sure your tetnus is up to date.
Have fun with the girls and lightbulb adventures!
Looking forward to hearing more about the Lori bed project, that sounds cool.
Beautiful moments Stay healthy Mr.1500 days!
