The Incredible Power Of Community (Extroverted Introverts)

August 17, 2021 by Mr. 1500 Days 7 Comments

One of the best parts of life is spending time with our chosen community. This is especially relevant to early retirees because we have much more time. When I worked, I spent more time with my coworkers than with my spouse. It's a little ridiculous to think about, but I think it's true for a lot of us. Here is how life broke down for me when I had a job:Hours in the … [Read more...] about The Incredible Power Of Community (Extroverted Introverts)

Nashville And Longmont Fun

Hello friends! I'm in Nashville for Podcast Movement. I'm tagging along with Mindy whose podcast is waaaay bigger than mine. But that's neither here nor there.Nashville is a fun place with pseudo-Greek artifacts:Lots and lots of parties, even ones that roll down the middle of the street:And funky hangouts:If you're in town or going to Podcast Movement and … [Read more...] about Nashville And Longmont Fun

The Incredible Lives Of My Adventurous Friends

July 12, 2021 by Mr. 1500 Days 9 Comments

I recently returned from a week in Oaxaca Mexico. Like most adventures, I now plan my destinations around other humans and not places. This may seem strange, but when you understand the origins of happiness, it makes perfect sense:The surprising finding is that our relationships and how happy we are in our relationships has a powerful influence on our health,” … [Read more...] about The Incredible Lives Of My Adventurous Friends

Living In A Land Of Infinite Possibility

November 18, 2019 by Mr. 1500 Days 5 Comments

Today's guest post comes from Alan Donegan. I first met Alan at Chautauqua in Ecuador. At first, I was intimidated by his booming voice and extroverted nature. Then I had a conversation with him at lunch one day and knew he was a good human. Then, I saw him speak about PopUp Business School and knew he was an incredible human.Alan is many things to me. He's a life coach who … [Read more...] about Living In A Land Of Infinite Possibility

PopUp Business School In Longmont (Come On Out!)

August 3, 2018 by Mr. 1500 Days 16 Comments

This post is a long winded article to convince you to attend PopUp Business School, a 2 week course that teaches you how to start a business the right way. It's a completely free and wildly fun event here in Longmont Colorado next month. If you'd like to get right to PopUp and skip my gibberish, click here. Sometimes, people come into your lives and change it. Some for the … [Read more...] about PopUp Business School In Longmont (Come On Out!)

Freedom!

My goal was to build a portfolio of $1,000,000 by February of 2017; 1500 days from the birth of this blog (January 1, 2013). And hey look, I’ve since retired!

Investments only (primary home excluded)
1/1/13 (The Start): $586,043
1/1/14 (1 Yr Later): $869,635
1/1/15 (2 Yrs Later): $987,351
1/1/16 (3 Yrs Later): $1,057,961
1/1/17 (4 Yrs Later): $1,257,128
1/1/18 (5 Yrs Later): $1,527,701
1/1/19 (6 Yrs Later): $1,549,440
1/1/20 (7 Yrs Later): $2,035,040*
1/1/21 (8 Yrs Later): $3,379,746**
1/1/22 (9 Yrs Later): $4,762,642
1/1/23 (10 Yrs Later): $3,112,821

2023: Investments only
1/1: $3,112,821

Overall
2023 investment gains: $0
Investment gains since 1/1/2013: $2,526,778
Net worth***: $3,342,821

* The big jump between 2019 and 2020 was partly because we bought another home, but kept the previous (much more expensive) one as a rental. We have since sold it.

** Tesla.

*** Includes our primary home equity in addition to our investment portfolio.

Finally, we still have about $290,000 in mortgage debt (which I love!). No regrets about the debts!
