Mrs. 1500’s Half Marathon Update – SMALL Success Episode

February 13, 2019 by Mrs. 1500 26 Comments

Hi there, Mrs. 1500 today.I'm writing this a bit late (Wednesday morning) because I wanted to weigh in this morning before posting.I'm FINALLY seeing a very small amount of success. I've lost the same 2-3 pounds about 17 times since I started this journey, which is very discouraging to be down, have a beer over the weekend, and then be right back where you … [Read more...] about Mrs. 1500’s Half Marathon Update – SMALL Success Episode

Getting Naked in the Costco Parking Lot

May 31, 2017 by Mr. 1500 Days 45 Comments

I did it. I pulled the trigger on the Acura/Honda NSX that I recently threatened to buy. It wasn't the silver one I looked at before (it had issues).A friend pointed me to a black one that he found in Wisconsin. I bought it a couple weeks ago and drove it home over two days. It's now resting in the garage. $45,000 is a lot of money for a frugal* guy. … [Read more...] about Getting Naked in the Costco Parking Lot

Thursday Rant: Quick Hits and More Banana Madness

May 2, 2013 by Mr. 1500 Days 41 Comments

I had this post all done and then I read something that I just had to add at the last minute. Did you hear about the bonehead who spent $2600 (his life savings) to win a stuffed banana at a carnival!?! He was going for the xBox Kinect (dude, the xBox is like $400) and wouldn't give up. What is wrong with people?__________________________Next time you are sitting at a … [Read more...] about Thursday Rant: Quick Hits and More Banana Madness

Freedom!

My goal was to build a portfolio of $1,000,000 by February of 2017; 1500 days from the birth of this blog (January 1, 2013). And hey look, I’ve since retired!

Investments only (primary home excluded)
1/1/13 (The Start): $586,043
1/1/14 (1 Yr Later): $869,635
1/1/15 (2 Yrs Later): $987,351
1/1/16 (3 Yrs Later): $1,057,961
1/1/17 (4 Yrs Later): $1,257,128
1/1/18 (5 Yrs Later): $1,527,701
1/1/19 (6 Yrs Later): $1,549,440
1/1/20 (7 Yrs Later): $2,035,040*
1/1/21 (8 Yrs Later): $3,379,746**
1/1/22 (9 Yrs Later): $4,762,642
1/1/23 (10 Yrs Later): $3,112,821

2023: Investments only
1/1: $3,112,821

Overall
2023 investment gains: $0
Investment gains since 1/1/2013: $2,526,778
Net worth***: $3,342,821

* The big jump between 2019 and 2020 was partly because we bought another home, but kept the previous (much more expensive) one as a rental. We have since sold it.

** Tesla.

*** Includes our primary home equity in addition to our investment portfolio.

Finally, we still have about $290,000 in mortgage debt (which I love!). No regrets about the debts!
