Thursday Anti-Rant: Life is Great!

July 4, 2013 by Mr. 1500 Days 14 Comments

We’re spending some time up in the mountains for the American 4th of July holiday. Everything has been perfect. The weather is fantastic and we’ve been having a really nice time.

I was also thinking about life in general and I really can’t complain. We have 2 great, healthy girls, we’re finally living in a place we like and things are just going well. I just can’t get into my normal grouchy/ranty mood, so I’m going to take a break from my usual complaining and post some pictures of our little vacation.

Beautiful pictures! Land of the Free! Happy 4th of July. How blessed we are here in the USA. Too often we take our freedom and liberties for granted. So much to be thankful for. Enjoy the weekend!

I have no clue what Chrysler was thinking (smoking?) when they approved production of that thing. Maybe they were delusional from the success of the minivan? I do give them a little credit though for doing something so crazy.

FUN in the sun for the 1500s!!!! Jolly pops for all!!! Are you the one who wrote “Don’t tell me what to do” on that sign? It would have been a mini-rant amongst all the pure goodness and absolutely hysterical! Keep the fun flowing, Mr. 1500!

I cannot take credit for writing that on the sign, but I thought it was pretty funny!

A rant of beauty! While I love your Thursday rants, I like this one as well. The “Don’t tell me what to do” on the sign really got me. I am going to giggle about that one all day! Happy loooong weekend and may the cool waters tickle your toes – all 1500 of them.

Thanks Tammy! The “don’t tell me what to do” cracked me up too! Almost as much as the huge phallus that someone put in the median of my old, pretentious neighborhood.

The weather looks amazing, the scenes look like they were painted to be so beautiful.

Is THIS the hidden valley where all that ranch comes from?!

Freedom!

My goal was to build a portfolio of $1,000,000 by February of 2017; 1500 days from the birth of this blog (January 1, 2013). And hey look, I’ve since retired!

Investments only (primary home excluded)
1/1/13 (The Start): $586,043
1/1/14 (1 Yr Later): $869,635
1/1/15 (2 Yrs Later): $987,351
1/1/16 (3 Yrs Later): $1,057,961
1/1/17 (4 Yrs Later): $1,257,128
1/1/18 (5 Yrs Later): $1,527,701
1/1/19 (6 Yrs Later): $1,549,440
1/1/20 (7 Yrs Later): $2,035,040*
1/1/21 (8 Yrs Later): $3,379,746**
1/1/22 (9 Yrs Later): $4,762,642
1/1/23 (10 Yrs Later): $3,112,821

2023: Investments only
1/1: $3,112,821

Overall
2023 investment gains: $0
Investment gains since 1/1/2013: $2,526,778
Net worth***: $3,342,821

* The big jump between 2019 and 2020 was partly because we bought another home, but kept the previous (much more expensive) one as a rental. We have since sold it.

** Tesla.

*** Includes our primary home equity in addition to our investment portfolio.

Finally, we still have about $290,000 in mortgage debt (which I love!). No regrets about the debts!
